About GSV Tweetalig

At GSV Tweetalig (bilingual education), pupils are exposed to English from an early age, while remaining firmly rooted in the Dutch curriculum. In this open and inclusive learning environment, we foster language development, curiosity, and self-confidence. 30% of lessons are taught in English, so pupils develop not only natural language skills but also a broader worldview. Within our tight-knit and safe environment, every child is given the space to develop in a way that suits them, with an eye for individuality, collaboration, and the world around them.

FAQ

Is GSV Tweetalig a private school?

GSV Tweetalig is not a private school in the traditional sense. The school is largely funded by the government and follows the Dutch education system. The difference compared to many other schools is that our parents become members of the GSV Parents’ Association and pay a membership fee. Thanks to the parents’ contributions, we are able to offer a broad and enriching educational program, provide individual attention and care, and work with many small groups.

Where is GSV Bilingual located, and how can I get there?

GSV Tweetalig is located at Sweelincklaan 4, 9722 JV Groningen, in the Helpman neighborhood.

  • By car: From the city center you can reach the school in about 10 minutes. Please note: there is paid parking on the street.

  • By bike: The school is easily accessible via local bike paths. Students are asked to park their bicycles in the designated bike racks near the entrance.

  • By public transport: From the central station there are several options to reach a stop within approximately 5–10 minutes, followed by a short walk to the school.

Is there a school uniform?

There is no school uniform. Only for PE lessons, students in groups 3 to 8 need gym shoes, shorts, and a t-shirt. Younger children are encouraged to wear clothing that allows them to move and play freely. All PE clothing must be labeled with the child’s name.

Does GSV provide lunch?

Pupils bring their own lunch from home. Preferably choose meals that are easy to eat and do not need to be heated. All students stay at school for lunch under staff supervision.
Please note: on Wednesdays school ends at 12:30 PM, and there is no lunch break.

What is the policy on mobile phones?

Phones and smartwatches must be handed in to the teacher at the start of the day. Use of these devices is not allowed during school hours. The school is not responsible for loss or damage.

What is Social Schools?

Social Schools is our parent portal. Once your child is enrolled, you will receive login details to access news, class updates, documents, and to schedule parent-teacher meetings.

What should I do if my child is sick?

Report your child’s absence via the Social Schools app, or call the administration between 8:00 and 8:30 AM at (050) 527 08 18. During that time, our group 8 students answer the phone. You can also send an email before 8:30 AM to ziek@g-s-v.nl .
