At the gifted department of GSV, lessons closely align with pupils’ learning needs and cognitive level. We work in small groups of a maximum of 22 children, creating space for personal attention and allowing pupils to experience a learning environment with like-minded peers. This contributes to smooth social-emotional development and better connection with children of their own age.
Thematic Structure with Deep Level Learning
Education is based on Deep Level Learning. This is a thematic approach in which themes are introduced top-down, with a strong focus on developing higher-order thinking skills such as analyzing, evaluating, and creating. In addition to the core subjects, pupils receive enriched instruction in areas such as chess, philosophy, Spanish, and science. We encourage pupils to make connections and develop creative solutions, while also emphasizing the practical application of knowledge.
Alignment with IPC and broad collaboration
Deep Level Learning aligns well with the International Primary Curriculum used in the other departments. This ensures a consistent and recognizable approach throughout our school. Where possible, lessons are taught in English, and we collaborate with businesses, nature and arts organizations, and scientific institutions to make projects even more engaging.
Space for independence and skill development
At GSV, we use an integrated approach to subject areas (world orientation) through the IPC (International Primary Curriculum) program. The International Primary Curriculum is a comprehensive, thematic, and creative curriculum for pupils aged 4–12. It is built around a clearly structured learning process with specific learning objectives for each subject area. The IPC supports teachers in making lessons as engaging, active, and meaningful as possible for pupils.
The IPC curriculum also provides an international perspective. It helps children make connections between what they have learned and how it can be applied in their own country, while also exploring the perspectives of people in other countries.
