Board

The board of the Stichting Groningse Schoolvereniging (the school) is led by the Director, Gerdien Wassenaar. She is responsible for the governance duties of both the Association and GSV Parents association, overseeing the daily management of the school, holding ultimate executive responsibility, and reporting to the GSV Supervisory Board.

The Director is also responsible for the quality and leadership of the school. The board reports to the members of the Association on how our school uses the parental contribution and how it fulfils the mission and vision of the Parent Association.

The Director, together with the Team Leaders, forms the school’s Management Team (MT). The MT consists of five Team Leaders, each responsible for a department within the Groningse Schoolvereniging.

Management Statute

The management statute sets out the powers and responsibilities between the director and the team leaders. The management statute is part of the “Governance handbook”.

Supervisory Board

As of 1 August 2022, GSV has a Supervisory Board ("Raad van Toezicht" - RvT). The Supervisory Board examines the performance of the Director and serves as a sounding board for a wide range of issues. The board and supervisors act in accordance with the Code Goed bestuur of the PO-Raad, the sector organisation for primary education.

The Supervisory Board also oversees the GSV Parent Association, and therefore forms a personnel union.

Composition

The Supervisory Board consists of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 7 members, the majority of whom are parents at GSV. There are also external members, such as an external chairperson. The members of the RvT are appointed by the ALV or Parent Association.

There is one exception: the binding nomination of one RvT member by the MR ("medezeggenschapsraad") of GSV.
