Lunch break
Between 12:00 and 13:00, pupils may either go home or stay at school for lunch. Pupils who stay at school are supervised by the teachers and, as much as possible, by regular, paid lunch supervisors from the Stichting Overblijven GSV.
The foundation has existed since 1995 and is managed by parents and staff of GSV. In all classes across departments, pupils eat together with their teachers. In groups 1 and 2, one or two lunch supervisors are also present. In all groups, the supervisors guide pupils during outdoor play. The lunch supervisors coordinate with the classroom teachers to maintain the quality of the pedagogical climate.
Continuous Schedule
Since the 2021–2022 school year, GSV Hoogbegaafd operates a continuous schedule. School hours are 08:30–14:30, and on Wednesdays 08:30–12:30. The services of the Stichting Overblijven are not used during this schedule.
Activities during lunch and after school
From September to May, starting from group 3, GSV organises various extracurricular activities during lunch and after school. These activities are offered by internal and external specialist teachers, by SKSG, and by the playground association ‘De Helpen’. Examples of activities organised in and around the school include:
- Knutsel Frutsel (creative lessons, also in English)
- Chess
- School orchestra
- School choir
- Typing lessons on the computer
- Language courses: Spanish, German, French, and, if there is sufficient interest, Russian and Mandarin
- Dutch lessons for pupils from the international department
After-School Care (BSO)
Groningse Schoolvereniging works closely with SKSG, a recognised partner for both after-school care (BSO) and toddler care. This allows children to relax after school or continue learning and playing actively in a safe, stimulating environment. Parents can rely on care that is reliable and close to home. Many of our parents make use of SKSG’s services.
